Abstract:
Doxycycline(Doxy) is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent with bactericidal effect at high concentrations. In addition to its antibacterial effect, local or systemic application of Doxy in ocular alkali burns can effectively inhibit ocular surface inflammation, keratolysis, corneal scar formation, corneal neovascularization, reduce the risk of long-term hormone therapy alone and have the potential to resist corneal oxidative stress. With the further study of pathophysiology on ocular alkali burns, the potential repair mechanism of Doxy on alkali burned corneas is also being explored constantly. This article mainly provides a systematic review of the research and progress on the mechanism of Doxy's effect on corneal repair in ocular alkali burns, in order to provide reference for follow-up research.
